Now Taking Walk-ins for New and Renewal Concealed Handgun Licensing & Fingerprinting
Walk-ins are accepted on a first-come basis on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Appointments are no longer required or accepted.
Location
New Location: The CHL & Fingerprinting office is located in the SHeriff’s Office headquarters at 1776 State Route 521 (Delaware, OH 43015), with parking in the front lot. Be sure to use the kiosk in our lobby to sign in upon your arrival. Please do NOT bring firearms with you!

Applications
Available online by clicking on the appropriate box below or in-person at the Sheriff’s Office (1776 State Route 521, Delaware, OH 43015).
Please bring the following with you to your appointment.
New Applicants:
- A completed application
- One passport size photo taken within the last 30 days (we can take your photo for $5)
- A copy of your certificate of completing your 8-hour course
- If using Military or OPOTA training please provide a copy of DD214 or OPOTA certificate, respectively
- A valid driver’s license or state ID
- A self-addressed, stamped envelope
- If not a permanent Ohio resident, proof of temporary residence [e.g. pay stub (with Ohio employer address), lease, utility bill, etc.
- Money Order or Cash only to cover the fee – please bring exact change
- If you have lived in Ohio for the last five years – $67
- If you have lived outside of Ohio in the last five years – $77
- If you are an active or reserve member of the armed forces or have retired from or were honorably discharged from military service in the active or reserve armed forces of the United States, the fee is waived.
Renewals:
You can renew your license at any time or any time after it expires. There is no penalty for letting your license expire; you do not have to take another class.
- A completed application

- Current CHL license
- A valid driver’s license or state ID
- A self-addressed, stamped envelope
- If not a permanent Ohio resident, proof of temporary residence [e.g. pay stub (with Ohio employer address), lease, utility bill, etc.]
- Money Order or Cash only to cover the fee – please bring exact change
- If you have lived in Ohio for the last five years – $50
- If you have lived outside of Ohio in the last five years – $60
- If you are an active or reserve member of the armed forces or have retired from or were honorably discharged from military service in the active or reserve armed forces of the United States, the fee is waived. You must provide a copy of your DD-214 or active credentials.
Change of Address
If you have moved and would like to notify us of your new address, please send an e-mail to: ccw@co.delaware.oh.us and include your first and last name, permit number, and both your old and new address. Once we have updated your address in the system, we will notify you by e-mail. You are not required to have a new CHL card, but if you would like one, stop by the CHL office during normal business hours (listed above) and for $15 we can provide you with an updated card. No appointment is needed.
