Special Wastes Require Special Handling!

Appliances - Appliances can be taken to Sims Recycling (fee for Freon and non Freon), the Delaware County Solid Waste Transfer Station will accept non Freon appliances at no charge.  Freon must be removed by a certified technician.  Call Keep Delaware County Beautiful at 740-368-1700. Call Friction Metals 740-362-3429.  General Recycling, 400 Bartram Rd., Marion, OH  43302, 740-383-6068, will pay customers for appliances

Automobiles - may be accepted by local charities, including the Kidney Foundation, Goodwill, and the Salvation Army. .

Car Batteries - Should be traded in at the retailers or taken to the Transfer Station, or Sims Recycling.

Cell Phones -may be taken to the Columbus Zoo (also accepts cell phone peripherals), Sims Recycling, Delaware County Victims Services or Sheriff's Office.

Electronics (Computers and computer peripherals – NO TVs) Ohio Mulch locations, Sims Recycling, Best Buy, and Staples. Fee may apply for certain types of monitors.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop Offs - Two events are held each year in the Solid Waste District. Residents of Delaware County are welcome to attend events in Delaware Knox, Marion, or Morrow Counties (http://dkmm.org).

Light Bulbs - CFLs and fluorescent tubes (small quantities) from residences can be taken to Lowes. Home Depot accepts CFL's (compact Fluorescent) only. Menard's will accept tubes only if replacement tubes are purchased from them. Fluorescent lamps can be brought to the DKMM Household Hazardous Waste Drop offs (http://dkmm.org) .

Medications- Delaware County has permanent 24/7 drop off locations. Drop off locations

Motor Oil - can be taken to TSC, Walmart in Lewis Center or Delaware, or Auto Zone stores, or check with a service center near you.

Tires - The DKMM Solid Waste District holds Special Events (http://dkmm.org). Tires are accepted for a fee of $2 for passenger tires (19" or less), $5 for tires greater than 19” and $35 each for AG and off the road tires at the Electronics and Tire Special Events only.

Vegetable Oils - can be recycled.  Contact Price Farms Organics 4838 Warrensburg Road, Delaware, 740-362-4838.  Tip fees may apply.

Yard Trimmings - Can be taken to Price Farms Organics, (740) 369-1000 at 4838 Warrensburg Rd. Spring, Summer & Fall hours are 8 to 5, Mondays through Saturdays.  Winter hours are 8-4 M-F and 9-1 on Saturdays. Call for Rates.
