Project Description

Replacement of a narrow and structurally deficient steel beam bridge. Project includes removal of existing bridge and installing a 16′ span precast reinforced concrete arch culvert. Approach improvements including pavement and shoulder widening and guardrail installation.

 

Project Location and Limits:
Plumb Road just west of the I-71 underpass. Total project length is about 400 feet.

 

Construction Updates

04-19-2012: Plumb Road Now Open:

Plumb Road opened to traffic this afternoon. The project was completed two weeks ahead of schedule and under budget.

 

03-05-2012: Plumb Road Closed for 60 days:

Plumb Road will be closed March 5 for 60 days for replacement of an 11-ton posted bridge just west of I-71. The posted detour uses 3B’s&K Road to Dustin Road to Rome Corners, and the reverse.

Project Schedule

Design engineering: November 2009 to August 2010

Right-of-way acquisition: March to September 2011

Utility relocation: December 2011 to March 2012

Construction: March to May 2012

 


Construction Information

Contract awarded to J&J Schlaegel, Inc. of Urbana, Ohio for $285,682.

 


Estimated Project Cost

$350,000 including engineering, right of way and construction.
