November 5, 2009 - New Traffic Signal in Operation: Reconstruction of the South Old State and Lewis Center Road intersection is complete. The new traffic signal is now in operation. Motorists should be aware that this traffic signal does not currently have turn arrows for "protected" left turns. Traffic volumes do not currently warrant protected left turn phases; however, the County Engineer will monitor traffic volumes and change out the signal head (adding green left turn arrows) once volumes warrant the change.

Project Description:
Construction of a traffic signal, turn lanes and general road widening and drainage improvements to the intersection of Lewis Center Road and Old State Road.

Project Location and Limits:
Lewis Center Road: From approximately 1000 feet west of the intersection to Beechmont Drive on the east.

Old State Road: From Parklawn Drive at the south limit to approximately 1000 feet north of the intersection.

Road Closure Information:
Each leg of the intersection will be closed, sequentially, for approximately 30-45 days for reconstruction. Local traffic will be maintained to properties within the project limits.

Project Schedule:
Design engineering: 2004 to 2006
Right-of-way acquisition: Winter 2006 to fall 2008
Utility relocation: Winter 2008-09 to summer 2009
Construction: May to November 2009

Construction Information:
Kokosing Construction Company of Westerville, Ohio was awarded the construction contract for $1.57 million.

Estimated Project Cost:
$2.6 million including engineering, right of way acquisition and construction. A Local Transportation Improvement Program (LTIP) grant administered by the Ohio Public Works Commission will fund up to $484,000 of the project.
