Cheshire Road Causeway Repairs (Berlin
Township)
Project Description:
Repair of erosion to the side slopes of the causeway done during the
winter floods of January 2005. Project includes excavating eroded
soil and replacing with nearly 13,000 cubic yards of rock slope
protection.
Project Location and Limits:
West bridge over the state park drive to the bridge over Alum Creek
lake. Total project length is 0.73
miles.
Road Closure Information:
One-lane, two-way of traffic to be maintained during work hours by a
portable traffic signal.
Some short
duration closures required.
Project Schedule:
Design engineering: September 2005 to October 2006
Right-of-way acquisition: None required
Utility relocation: April to June 2007
Construction: December 2007 to May 2008

Construction plans prepared by Hull & Associates of Columbus,
Ohio.
Construction Information:
Contract awarded to Elite Excavating Company, Mansfield, Ohio for
$822,814.
Estimated Project Cost:
$896,000. 80% construction funding assistance provided by Federal
Highway Emergency Funds.
