East Powell Road Project Information Delaware County has initiated a project to upgrade East Powell Road from South Old State Road to Worthington Road and is currently studying options for this corridor. Home Road and SR 257 Intersection Improvements Delaware County will begin construction later in 2013 on two roundabouts at the intersection of Home Road at SR 257, and at Home Road & Section Line Road. The roundabouts were selected as the safest and most effective option for improving safety and traffic flow at these intersections. Construction will take about a year to complete.
The Delaware County Engineer, in cooperation with MORPC, Franklin County, Dublin, Gahanna and Hilliard have produced a short educational video called Roundabouts: Keep In The Loop. The video shows how to drive a modern roundabout and reasons why roundabouts are safer and more efficient than traffic signals for many intersections.

NEWS HEADLINES 06-13-2013: Intersection of Harlem and Smothers Road to Close June 24 The intersection of Harlem and Smothers Road will close starting June 24 for approximately 75 days. The intersection will be rebuilt into a single lane modern roundabout as a joint project between Delaware and Franklin Counties. The Franklin County Engineer's Office will administer the construction of this project.
04-02-2013: Public Meeting Scheduled for East Powell Road Improvements on April 11 from 6 to 8 pm: The Delaware County Engineer’s Office will be hosting an informational meeting about planned improvements to East Powell Road from South Old State Road to Worthington Road. The County Engineer is considering a number of improvements including widening the road, upgrading intersections, improving safety of existing curves, constructing a multi-use path and/or sidewalks and various drainage improvements within this corridor. Maps and other information about several alternatives being considering will be available for your review. The meeting will be held: Thursday, April 11, 2013 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Orange Township Hall 1680 E. Orange Road, Lewis Center, OH 43035. Click here for more information about the project.
03-21-2013: Sunbury Road Bridge Closure Delayed until April 22: The closure of the Sunbury Road bridge in Galena is being delayed until April 22 to allow for a gas line to be moved off of the bridge. Crews will be on site performing site preparation beginning the week of April 1, but two-way traffic will be maintained until April 22 when the bridge will be closed to traffic leaving Galena.
03-11-2013: Sunbury Road Bridge in Downtown Galena to Close to Eastbound Traffic Starting April 1: The Delaware County Engineer will begin the bridge replacement project on Sunbury Road just east of the Galena Village Square on Monday, April 1. Construction is scheduled to last through October 1, 2013. Sunbury Road (Columbus Street) will be closed to eastbound traffic (leaving Galena) during this timeframe. The posted detour route will use South Old 3C Highway to Big Walnut Road. Westbound traffic (entering Galena) will be maintained for the duration of the project. 10-29-2012: Harriott Road Closure Delayed Until 11/5 due to Weather: Due to forecasted rain and wind storms, the closure of Harriott Road is delayed until November 5. The road will be closed for about 6 weeks to replace a bridge between North and South Concord Road.
10-24-2012: Harriott Road to Close between North and South Concord Road on October 29 for 6 weeks: Harriott Road will close between the north and south legs of Concord Road beginning October 29 for about 6 weeks for replacement of a bridge. Crews are expected to complete the new bridge and reopen the road by December 14.
This project is the first phase of a planned improvement of this section of Harriott Road which includes a roundabout at the intersection with the south leg of Concord Road. The awkward alignment of Harriott Road in this area creates a safety hazard for the traveling public. The project is intended to address both the safety and future traffic flow needs in this area. Construction on the roundabout is planned to begin in 2014.
