Delaware County EMS Captain Tom Shover

Captain Shover graduated from Millersport High School in 1976.  He started working at Continental Midland, a factory that made screws for the automotive and industrial market.  He started going to COTC in Newark to work on an Associates Degree in Business.  He worked his way up to become the Human Resources Manager for the Company.

He joined the Millersport Fire Department and became a volunteer firefighter / EMT.  This is when he decided that he would pursue a career in firefighting.  He then became a member of the West Licking Fire District, and later the Hebron Fire Department.  He was then the volunteer Fire Chief for the Buckeye Lake Village Fire Department for two years.

After a time, he decided that he enjoyed EMS more than fire, and was given the opportunity to work for Delaware County EMS.  He started in 1993 at Station 2 in Galena.  He was promoted to Crew Chief in 1997, to Duty Supervisor in 2002, and to Captain in 2004.

"The opportunity to work with Delaware County EMS is the greatest employment opportunity I have ever received."  - Captain Tom Shover
