R. Lamont Kaiser assumed his duties as the Probate Court Magistrate in June 2011.
He received his Juris Doctor degree (cum laude) from The Ohio State University where
he was also the Managing Editor of the Ohio State Law Journal. He did his undergraduate work
at Syracuse University and The Ohio State University with a BA in Political Science.
As a Captain, he served on active duty in the USAF as a Staff Judge Advocate (JAG) and
a Military Judge.
For 39 years he maintained a private law practice in Delaware focusing on governmental
and school law, estate planning for individuals and families (incorporating both probate and non-probate
planning tools), business succession planning, elder law, guardianship law, mental health
law, estate administration, and complex probate litigation involving recoveries of missing or
embezzled assets.
Kaiser has been the President and past member of the Rotary Club of Delaware, and has
served on the governing boards of the Ohio State Bar Association, Grady Memorial Hospital,
and the Delaware Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to becoming a Magistrate, Kaiser had been recognized professionally by his lawyer
peers through a national clearing house by being rated for the over 20 years as having the "Highest Possible Peer Review Rating in Legal Ability and Ethical Standards". With that same
commitment to professionalism he and the Probate Court staff strive to deliver timely and
quality service to the families and individuals seeking its protection, assistance, supervision or
direction.
