What is An Emergency Notification System
An Emergency Notification System is a system, which allows government entities to contact citizens in the event of an emergency in their area. The system has several different methods of contacting citizens including traditional residential landlines, business lines, voice pagers, VoIP or digital "cable" phones, and cell phones.

Does Delaware County Have Emergency Notification System?
Yes.  The Delaware County Commissioners have contracted with Emergency Communications Network, Inc., of Ormond Beach, Florida, for its "CodeRED®" high-speed telephone emergency notification services. The CodeRED® system gives the County 911 Center the ability to deliver pre-recorded emergency telephone notification/information messages at a rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour.

How Can I Be Certain I can be Contacted?
CodeRED® updates the System several times a year using multiple national phone listing databases.  If your phone number is unlisted, you have recently moved, or if you only have a cellular phone, we may not have your information. Even if you have a listed home phone number, you should still register. To add your contact information to the CodeRED® system go to Delaware County CodeRED®

Does Code Red Support TTY for the Hearing Impaired?
Yes. Please go to Delaware County CodeRED®. When completing the online form you must click on the TTY option on the bottom of the page.

What Information Do I Need to Supply?
Since the CodeRED® system works on geographical location, you must enter your address, city, and zip code into the system.  This means that if there is an emergency situation in Delaware County or Delaware City, we can notify the residents in this area only.

Do I have to pay extra for CodeRED® service?

No. CodeRED® is entirely paid for by the Delaware County Commissioners

Does this mean the County will be calling me constantly?
No. Delaware County respects your privacy. CodeRED® will be used only when situations arise that you should know about.

What Will Show up on my caller iD?
You will know the call is from us when your Caller ID displays

866-419-5000 or Emergency Comm for Emergency Notifications 855-969-4636 or ECN Community for General Notifications 800-566-9780 or Emergency Comm for CodeRED Weather Warning Alerts

If you would like to hear the last message delivered to your phone, simply dial the number back.

Can I arrange to have CodeRED® call my place of business?
Yes. Please go to Delaware County CodeRED®.  When the Residential Data Collection form opens, click on the button labeled “Click to Switch to Business Data” and fill in the required information. Please note that emergency calls can only be delivered to a direct dial number. Automated attendants will disrupt the process and calls will not be delivered.

What is CodeRED Weather Warning?
CodeRED® Weather Warning is an early telephone warning system designed to automatically deliver targeted weather notifications for the immediate threats of severe thunderstorm warnings, flash flood warnings and tornado warnings within moments of being issued by the
National Weather Service (NWS).

What message will I receive from CodeRED Weather Warning?
CodeRED® Weather Warning will deliver a pre-recorded alert message directly to your resident’s phones in the projected path of the severe weather. The system automatically sends these notifications without any effort from your staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year providing your residents the needed time to prepare. This becomes even more critical if a tornado comes through your area during the night, when television, radio broadcasts and sirens are ineffective.

How Does CodeRED Weather Warning Work?
CodeRED® Weather Warning uses new polygon warning methodologies based on “Storm Based Warnings” direct from the NWS and contacts only those in the affected areas, eliminating many false alarms associated with prior notification methods. CodeRED Weather Warning monitors each NWS bulletin to determine the severity of the warning and the exact area(s) affected coupled with the predicted heading of the threatening storm. CodeRED Weather Warning then creates a calling database of all subscribers within the projected area of the severe weather. This calling database is then immediately submitted to the CodeRED Weather Warning automated calling system. By eliminating the need for human intervention to active warnings we have significantly decreased the response time for fast moving storms.
