For Immediate Release

October 16, 2006

A former Tri-Township firefighter indicted on rape and kidnapping charges was sentenced today to three years in prison and classified as a sexually-oriented offender by Common Pleas Judge Everett H. Krueger, said Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney Dave Yost.

In September, Brian Goodman, 34, of Delaware, entered an Alford plea to attempted sexual battery and attempted abduction just after the start of his jury trial.  Both charges are fourth degree felonies.

Upon release from prison, Goodman will be under five years of post-release probation and will be required to register as a sex offender with the county sheriff's office once a year for the next 10 years. He is also forever prohibited from being employed as a firefighter or any other public service professional.
