County Finances
The County Auditor is the Chief Fiscal officer of Delaware County. It is the responsibility of this office to account for over 528 million dollars received each year and to issue warrants (checks) in payment of all County obligations including the distribution of tax dollars to Delaware County itself and to its nineteen (19) Townships, six (6) Villages, four (4) Cities, seventeen (17) School Districts, one (1) Park Board and four (4) Library Systems as well as other County Agencies. Vendor's License

Real Property Valuation
Delaware County has more than 74,000 separate parcels of real property. It is the duty of the Auditor's office to see that every parcel of land and the buildings thereon are fairly and uniformly appraised and then assessed for tax purposes. A general reappraisal is mandated by Ohio Law every six years and an update to those values every three years. Real property is appraised at its estimated market value. While real property in Ohio is appraised at its market value it is taxed at its assessed value which is thirty-five percent (35%) of its appraised value. Real Property Taxation
Under law, the County Auditor cannot and does not raise or lower property taxes. Tax rates are determined by the budgetary requests of each governmental unit, as authorized by vote of the people, and are computed in strict accordance with procedures required by the State Department of Taxation. Personal Property Tax
Personal Property is every tangible thing which is owned, except real property. Real Property is defined as land, growing crops, all buildings, structures, improvements and fixtures on the land. If you are engaged in business in Ohio or have a beneficial interest in property located in Ohio on January 1, or hold an active charter or license from the Ohio Secretary of State, you must file a return. Weights and Measures
The County Auditor is the Sealer of Weights and Measures for the entire County protecting the consumer from the possible loss which may occur from faulty measuring devices, such as scales and gasoline pumps. The Auditor is charged with the responsibility of insuring that all State laws relating to weights and measures are strictly enforced.
